VP Binay confirms death of 3 Pinoy in China
The three overseas Filipino workers who were convicted of drug trafficking in China have been executed, Vice President Jejomar Binay announced Tuesday. “Malungkot na araw… Patay na po ‘yung tatlong kababayan natin,” Binay said in an interview over GMA News TV.
Earlier, Noel Novicio, consul of the Philippine post in Xiamen City, said convicted Filipinos Sally Ordinario-Villanueva, Ramon Credo and Elizabeth Batain were brought to a “private place” where they will be executed after they were read their death sentence at 9:40 a.m. (Manila time).
A press conference in Malacañang is being held with officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs expected to give the official announcement.
Earlier, the DFA urged the nation to offer a minute of prayer for the three Filipino drug mules who were sentenced with the death penalty and faced execution in China today.
