Rodney King arrested for DUI – Riverside County sheriff’s picked up Rodney King this afternoon while he was driving in Moreno Valley. He was booked on suspicion or driving under the influence. The resident of Rialto was being held this evening awaiting $2,500 bail, says Banning-Beaumont Patch.
Rodney King, the victim of a caught-on-camera beating by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1991, was arrested for suspicion of DUI on Tuesday.
Officers from the Moreno Valley Police Department pulled King, 46, over after observing him commit several traffic violations, according to a press release from the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. He was booked for misdemeanor DUI and was released on $2,500 bail, according to his arrest report.
King was awarded $3.8 million in a civil case for his 1991 assault by police, which led to race riots in the city and left him with brain damage. He has long struggled with alcohol addiction and has been arrested several times.
In 2008, He appeared on VH1’s “Celebrity Rehab With Dr. Drew” alongside actor Jeff Conaway. Conaway died in May after battling pneumonia and sepsis related to his prescription drug use.
