Marcory “Cindy” Caliguiran Pinay student killed in Murder-Suicide in US – A tragic shooting at a parking garage in San Jose State University in California left one Filipina and her male companion dead. The alleged killer was her own husband.
Fifty-four-year-old Napoleon Avarias Caliguiran shot his 25-year-old wife Marcory “Cindy” Caliguiran and her Caucasian male companion, Thomas Kyle Williams, before turning the gun on himself.
Thomas and Marcory were graduating students. They would have earned their accounting degree this month.
Both were shot inside the Caliguirans’ parked car on Tuesday night. They suffered multiple gun shot wounds.
“We have contacted the next of kin of Macory Caliguiran, and we confirm that she is a native of the Philippines,” SJSU Campus Spokesperson Pat Lopes Harris said.
Harris said authorities are still determining the motive for the shooting, and it was not clear whether Thomas and Marcory were anything more than acquaintances.
After allegedly killing his wife and her friend, Napoleon was found gravely injured a short distance away in the North garage, a handgun by his side.
He died at a hospital. Police say Napoleon had no known criminal record.
“We don’t know a lot, and we may never know a lot of the series of events that led up to what happened in our garage on Tuesday night. But we do know that we’re dealing with a little bit of domestic violence,” Harris said.
