Urban Armor Gear Case Review for LG G4 (Ash Gray)

The problem with buying a protective case for your smartphone is that you never know for sure just how protective it really is until it is needed to do its job. Even a drop-test video only shows you how well the case worked with that one drop on that one occasion.

The Urban Armor Gear case for LG G4 has a composite construction consisting of a hard outer shell with a soft, impact-resistant inner core. With this, you get a case that is tough on the outside while protection the precious goods on the inside.

There are a number of excellent cases for the all-new LG G4, and that’s only if you opt to get a regular plastic model instead of one of the six beautiful hand-crafted leather options. Even then, some who choose a leather back may still want to protect it, and UAG also offers a clear case with the same durable construction yet a see-through design to show off the leather.

DESIGN

The overall design for case is quite impressive with precise cut outs for the back volume buttons and the camera.UAG cases all follow a similar industrial design with the main shell made from a tough polycarbonate that’s been especially designed to be rigid while remaining extremely light and providing excellent impact resistance to your phone.

PROTECTION

The case is composed of a feather-light composite construction that looks durable and has an extremely rugged design, an impact resistant soft core, non-slip ruggedized grip, and re-enforced corners for added drop protection. So far, it’s what I’ve wanted. It doesn’t make the phone overly bulky. There is a front lip all the way around the screen to raise the phone up off the table when laying face down. The edges of the button/camera cutout are beveled and actually help guide your fingers to them. The “rubber” around the top and bottom are much better than the “soft jelly” kind and are not so grippy that they make it difficult to put in/take out of your pocket. The side rubber grips actually make it much nicer to hold in your hand and prevent slipping.

PACKAGING
Standard fare, it did come with a plastic screen protector that I declined to use.

FIT
Tight enough without being a pain. It does seem like it won’t just pop off either. While I don’t have one of the tempered glass screen protectors, it does look like this would fit without a problem. No problem accessing the rear buttons/camera. Perfect even with leather back.

Features

  • Feather-light composite construction
  • Armor shell and impact resistant soft core
  • Over sized tactile buttons and non-slip ruggedized grip
  • Easy access to touch-screen and ports
  • Scratch resistant skid pads and screen surround

Overall I’m actually really impressed by the tough, lightweight, durable, yet sleek design this case has to offer. All for only $34.95.
