Some people might say Charlie Sheen is a violent drug addict who treats woman as objects to be bought and discarded like so many briefcases of cocaine. But beneath all that lies a family man with hopes and dreams of settling down and finding a place to call home with those he loves the most. Maya Angelou Died? or Hospitalized?

This is just a quick update to mention that respected and much-loved author Maya Angelou has been hospitalised. The 81-year-old best-selling/ Pulitzer Prize-nominated writer was taken to hospital Saturday 3 October 2009. According to TMZ, she was scheduled to be honored at the Brave Heart Awards in Los Angeles. The awards were to celebrate women who made significant changes in their professional fields. Story developing and I’ll post more should more details be released. Get well soon Maya Angelou.

Rumors are abound in Twitter about the apparent death of Maya Angelou, famous Pulitzer prize nominated author and poet.

TMZ reports Maya Angelou was taken to the hospital on Saturday evening.

She was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize for her 1971 poetry collection, “Just Give Me a Cool Drink of Water ‘Fore I Die.

Maya Angelou, aged 81, was in Los Angeles to be honored at the BraveHeart Awards. BraveHeart awards is for women who choose to be inspiration in action.

Maya Angelou (born Marguerite Ann Johnson on April 4, 1928) is a famous American autobiographer and poet. She was called “America’s most visible black female autobiographer” by scholar Joanne M. Braxton. Maya Angelou is best known for her series of six autobiographies, which focus on her childhood and early adulthood experiences.

Maya Angelou’s first and probably best-known autobiography, I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings (1969), focuses on the first seventeen years of her life. It brought her international recognition, and was nominated for a National Book Award.

Is Matt Damon dead? Or just another celebrity death hoax? According to TMZ, American actor Matt Damon was found dead in California’s Palo Verde mountain area on Wednesday. He was officially reported missing Friday, who was on a camping trip. His body was found by an Imperial County Sheriff’s Department deputy on Wednesday. And the cause of death is unknown. Matt Damon is 38.

According to TMZ.com on Wednesday, law enforcement headed into the desert near San Diego on Tuesday. That day, TMZ.com reported, “Damon sent a text message to a friend that he was out of water and needed help. There was a massive search that ended abruptly.”

On his personal blog, Matt Damon wrote last month he was going to the desert because of his friends talking about “treasure hunting and lost gold, and my own insatiable appetite for adventure and exploration . . . I plan on going so deep into the desert, that any failure of my equipment could cost me my life.”

Matt Damon Dead? Nope. Matt Damon is not dead. In fact, Matt Damon is alive. Rumors whizzed around the web last night, citing a fictional TMZ article, that Matt Damon had died. Of course, it was pretty easy to just visit TMZ and debunk it. I’m not going to link to any of the rumors themselves, as they tend to appear on really spammy sites, and we don’t like malware or legions of popups.

Besides, we all know that Matt Damon did not die when he fell from the rooftop at the end of The Bourne Ultimatum. He swims away as Julia Stiles tries not to LOL.

Earlier today, John Mayer posted this on his Twitter page, “I was arrested for the same offense as Patrick Stump.” Stump was arrested last Tuesday because of a warrant he had for driving without a license.

The reason this old mugshot from 2001 surfaced is because Mayer challenged TMZ’s Harvey Levin to find his mugshot.

WAIT A MINUTE! The folks over at The Smoking Gun claim they posted the photo first! Here’s what they had to say about the “controversy:”

AUGUST 27–As you may have read, the musician John Mayer has offered a $25,000 charitable donation for the publication of a mug shot that was taken following his arrest several years ago. While he technically made this offer, via Twitter, to the gossip site TMZ, we figured it applied to any other bounty hunters. Like The Smoking Gun, for example. So, as seen below, here’s Mayer’s mug shot. The photo was snapped after the performer was collared by Georgia cops in May 2001 for speeding and driving without a license. To those keeping score, TSG was the first site to publish Mayer’s mug shot, which we did today at 3:03 PM (Eastern time). A post to our Twitter page (tsgnews) noting that “Mayer owes us $25,000″ was also made at 3:03 PM. For its part, TMZ posted the photo at 3:10 PM, with the site’s customary “EXCLUSIVE” claim. While the TMZ item carries a backdated “posted” time of 3:03 PM, a check of the item’s comments section shows that the first comment was recorded at, not surprisingly, 3:10 PM, moments after the photo appeared on the gossip site. Both sites received the image from Ashanti Moore, an administrative assistant with the Atlanta Department of Corrections, who e-mailed the photo to TMZ (but only after it first appeared on TSG).
