Election Day 2009 is upon us. Many believe this is a referendum on President Barack Obama and the White House is nervous, downplaying any victory by Republican forthcoming as nothing more than an off-year win. Time Magazine also sees the polls and runs some interference with a “nothing to see here” attitude and claims, “Much will be made of the results, whatever they are — likely too much, in fact.”

CNN says voters are angry, fed up with empty promises and rising unemployment. The president has dispatched members of his team to do television interviews, downplaying any losses. “I don’t think there’s a whole lot of lessons that we’ll take away from the 2009 elections,” said John Anzalone, a pollster that worked for the president.
