A cross-platform jailbreaking, unlocking, and customizing tool for iPhones and iPod touches. Customizations include boot logos, recovery logos, and “verbose” boot. It’s a standalone program that doesn’t use iTunes (no custom IPSWs are involved).

We’ve been offering redsn0w in various incarnations over the years (including poorlad’s Windows version of QuickPwn). The most recent release before this one was redsn0w 0.8, which targeted Apple firmware 3.0/3.0.1.

What devices, platforms, and FW versions are supported?

The beta supports:

■All iPhones and iPod touches except the iPod touch 3G
■Windows and Mac OSX (x86)
■Apple firmware 3.0 and 3.1.2
When it’s out of beta, it will support the iPod touch 3G, PPC OSX, and Linux.

If you need a carrier unlock, redsn0w will handle iPhone 2G by itself (by installing our BootNeuter utility). For the 3G and 3GS, use Cydia after you’re jailbroken to install ultrasn0w (baseband 04.26, preferred) or blacksn0w (baseband 05.11).

How is it different from PwnageTool?

redsn0w doesn’t require a system restore like PwnageTool does (it doesn’t even use iTunes at all). On the other hand, PwnageTool can prevent your baseband from being upgraded when you upgrade your firmware, preserving your unlock. (redsn0w doesn’t touch your baseband but it doesn’t help preserve it during an upgrade either).

redsn0w works by modifying your current filesystem, so your existing baseband, data and applications should remain intact.

How is it different from blackra1n?

It differs from blackra1n because:

■It uses our original Pwnage bootrom exploit for iPhone 2G, iPhone 3G, and iPod 1G. (Because it’s a bootrom exploit, it can’t be fixed by Apple without a new hardware release.) Note that redsn0w 0.9 does use the USB exploit for iPhone 3GS and iPod 2G running 3.1.2, but that exploit will be fixed in Apple’s next FW release.
■It offers custom logos and verbose boot
■It installs Cydia without needing a separate download
■It’s not as fast (but redsn0w handles more variations )

What if I have a late-model device?

If you have a late-model iPhone 3GS, or if you have an iPod touch 2G whose serial number begins with “MC”, you can use redsn0w to jailbreak but you are currently restricted to “tethered” rebooting. That means you need to connect your device to a computer to complete the boot after a reset. Also, these devices cannot have custom logos.

redsn0w will ask you whether or not you fit in this category when used with the iPhone 3GS or iPod touch 2G. If you have a late-model device and don’t give redsn0w the correct answer, you will likely need to do a system restore to recover from the mistake.

To do a tethered boot after your late-model device resets for some reason, either run redsn0w again and select “Just boot tethered right now”, or run blackra1n.

What if I’m already jailbroken?

If you’re already jailbroken (by whatever means), redsn0w can still be used to change your boot logos, revert back to the stock logos, or switch verbose booting on and off. By selecting “Already Pwned” you can bypass the steps normally needed to enter the jailbroken state.

How long should it take

You should see a picture of a drive (“Downloading Jailbreak Data”) within 30 seconds of launching the jailbreak (after you’ve made your custom selections). It should then reboot and you should see a running pwnapple while the process is underway. It should finish within a minute or two after that, and will reboot on its own.

Is it safe?

The Windows version has been tested by small groups of volunteers on IRC and . This is still a beta and if things go wrong you may have to do a system restore…so make sure your data and pictures are synced before trying the beta.

This amazing incidental birth happened in a village which is located in Turkey. It has been reported that unusual birth was the result of human sexual relationship with the sheep.

Erhan Elibol, a vet, performed an emergency Caesarian on a female sheep to deliver its young lamb. Erhan Elibol said he was shocked to see the lamb born dead and having a human looking face.

Elibol said the dead lamb was hairless, with a human face and a lamb’s ears. The lamb with a human face, born in Izmir,Turkey, looked like it was smiling. Villagers burned the dead body so scientists have missed their chance to study the DNA of the mutation.

Scientists and vets have said the lamb with a human face was likely to have been the result of some mutation. A vet blamed the mother sheep’s fodder, allegedly containing vitamin A. He said the Vitamin A could have caused the mutation to make the lamb’s face look like a man.

Surprisingly, the lamb had an adult, man’s face and not a male baby face.

Villagers were frightened of the dead lamb. The human face on the lamb was eerie. They decided to burn the body of the dead animal.

The governor of the province said the lamb was the unnatural offspring of a relationship between a man and a female goat. He said this animal bestiality case was an embarrassment to his village.

This was not the first time a lamb had been born with a human face. Around September 2009, one such animal was born in Zimbabwe. The lamb had a human face. This caused shock, worry and panic with the villagers. They killed the animal.

Feel the water run through your body and notice where you get the best sensations and again, we dont just mean your giddy trunk. In their old age, because they have no wives, children, or grandchildren they still live together in clusters looking after one another until they pass away. This incredible story of human exploitation has never been documented but the photo before you puts a human face on their story – a story about farmworker slavery.
The Delano Manongs tells the unknown history of a group of Filipino farmworkers in Delano, California who toiled under the yoke of racism for decades, then rose up in their twilight years to fight for fair wages and ethical work conditions. The Manongs (A Manong is a Filipino term of respect for an older man) instigated one of the American labor movement’s finest hours.

the Great Grape Strike of 1965 that brought about the creation of the United Farm Workers Union (UFW) and a successful joining of the Filipino and Chicano (Mexican-American) labor groups.The documentary weaves together archival footage, present day footage and interviews with key leaders, participants, and historians to put the Manongs’ story in a historical and modern day context, from the time they arrived to the US in the ’20s and ’30s to the time of their demise in the ’70s and ’80s, and the significance of their legacy to thousands of Filipino Americans.

Those mountains, ocher in the distance,
resemble the wrinkled skins
of the manongs from Delano,
a town north of Bakersfield that smells
like the first rain after a drought, the pungent
collision of earth-dryness and sky-wetness.

The fields near the highways are packed
with rows upon rows of sweet melons and sprouts.
Filipino migrant workers picked them
for cents: winter peas, oranges, bushels of apples.
Their backs arched like bent bamboos
found in Philippine provinces.

Santa Maria. Barstow. Salinas.
Fresno. Seattle. Juneau.
The west is too familiar
to these lonely, old men trapped in their rooms
filled with photographs of white girls
they had loved but cannot marry.
Each told the story of the collective,
the many eyes of a single pineapple:
I came to America at sixteen, at fourteen,
at twelve, aboard a dysenteried ship…

Looking at the east, shunned by the west,
they wander as ghosts in-between worlds, haunting,
and yet haunted by their own ghosts,
the white membranes over their eyes like sadness.
This is all we know, said the manongs,
To harvest grapes, you must destroy the vines.

She produced “Little Manila: Filipinos in California’s Heartland,” which aired nationally on PBS. Prior to this, Aroy produced “Uneasy Peace,” aboutNorthern Ireland’s peace process for Frontline World. She was post-production supervisor for the 2006 Oscar-nominated documentary short, “Mushroom Club,” and worked as associate producer for three years on the HBO America Undercover Series documentary, “Rehab,”which won the Nancy Dickerson Whitehead Award for journalism. In the Philippines she was a segment producer for a local environmental television show and in the Dominican Republic she produced a short documentary about the effects of HIV and AIDS. Her film, Step Show:Portrait of a Black Fraternity screened at various film festivals including the New York International Film and Video Festival, The Black Hollywood Film Festival, Black Harvest Film Festival in Chicago, and the Film Arts Festival in San Francisco.

Aroy holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Boston College and a Masters degree from the Graduate School of Journalism at University of California, Berkeley. She was the recipient of the Yoshiko Uchida Asian American Writers Fellowship and is involved in the Bay Area Asian American arts scene, working mostly with Bindlestiff Studio. She is a producer of the TV sitcom pilot, Gun-powder which featured performers from Bindlestiff Studio. She is working on a project about Filipino Farmworkers and their role in helping create the United Farm Workers for which she recently received a development grant from the Independent Television Services. When she’s not making or watching movies, she’s teaching digital filmmaking at Berkeley City College.

If the skies are clear, revelers looking up at midnight will get an eyeful of the second full moon of the month—commonly called a blue moon. The last time a blue moon appeared on New Year’s Eve was in 1990, and it won’t happen again until 2028.

A blue moon isn’t actually blue—as commonly defined, the name reflects the relative rarity of two full moons in a month and is linked to the saying “once in a blue moon.”

The phrase blue moon refers to when a second full moon occurs within a calendar month. With the lunar cycle taking roughly 29.5 days, it generally happens every two to three years. The moon itself does not change colour.

A blue moon is scheduled for 7.13pm New Year’s Eve, but astronomers work in Greenwich Mean Time.

Because Australia’s time zone is ahead of England, the full moon will actually occur at 5.13am January 1, Brisbane time.

The fact that it doesn’t fall in the same month means it can no longer be considered a blue moon.

Mark Rigby, curator of the Brisbane Planetarium, said the term full moon referred to the specific point when the moon was on the opposite side of the Earth to the sun.

“If you were in London you could celebrate on New Year’s Eve under a blue moon, but not at our latitude,” Mr Rigby said.

“It is a specific moment in time when you have the sun, Earth and moon all in a straight line.”

Australians devastated at losing this astronomical boost to their celebrations can take solace in the fact we will be compensated with an even rarer event: a month with no full moon.

After New Year’s Day’s full moon, Australia will experience a blue moon on January 30, followed by no full moon at all in February. We will then have a second blue moon in March, coming on March 30 after a first full moon on March 1.

The last blue moon occurred in Australia in 2007, but the last time February had no full moon was 1991. It is not due to occur again until 2018.

The Babylonian new year celebration lasted for eleven days. Each day had its own particular mode of celebration, but it is safe to say that modern New Year’s Eve festivities pale in comparison.

The Romans continued to observe the new year in late March, but their calendar was continually tampered with by various emperors so that the calendar soon became out of synchronization with the sun.

In order to set the calendar right, the Roman senate, in 153 BC, declared January 1 to be the beginning of the new year. But tampering continued until Julius Caesar, in 46 BC, established what has come to be known as the Julian Calendar. It again established January 1 as the new year. But in order to synchronize the calendar with the sun, Caesar had to let the previous year drag on for 445 days.
