Footballer Kicks an Injured Owl

Pereira defender Luis Moreno has caused outrage among animal rights groups and faces severe punishment after kicking an injured owl on the pitch during a Colombian championship match on Sunday.

The owl, a mascot for Atletico Junior, had landed injured after being hit by the ball. Then Moreno walked over and kicked it about 3 meters to get the bird off the pitch. According to local reports, fans chanted “murderer, murderer” at the Panama international after the incident. The poor creature, meanwhile, suffered a broken leg and was being treated at a veterinary clinic in Barranquilla.

Moreno later apologized for his actions.
