Filipino Actor Johnny Delgado passed away

Juan Marasigan Feleo also known as Johnny Delgado, one of the most respected and award-winning actors in Philippine Showbiz Industry died this afternoon at exactly 1:20 pm today November 19, 2009. He is the husband of the multi-awarded director Laurice GuillenIna Feleo, Johnny’s daughter confirmed this one through an SMS abs-cbnNEWS.com. He was diagnosed with cancer in 2008. Early this year, Johnny assured that he was responding well to chemotherapy. He even attended the birthday celebration of Sen. Jinggoy Estrada in February 2009. He announced there that he was in remission.

Delgado, the son of film director Ben Feleo and educator Victorina Marasigan, appeared in almost 60 films and TV series in his over four decades in show business. In 2004, Delgado wrote and acted in the dramatic movie “Santa Santita,” which Guillen directed.

Delgado’s last project was the short feature “Labing Labing,” which Feleo wrote and directed. He teamed up with Guillen, playing a married couple in the film.

Delgado’s wake is at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Shrine in New Manila, Quezon City. Interment will be at the Loyola Memorial Park in Marikina on Nov. 24.

Delgado is best known for being part of the television gag show Goin’ Bananas in the 1980s. He also gained recognition for his role in the family drama Tanging Yaman, where he won the FAMAS Award and the Metro Manila Film Festival Award for Best Actor in 2000, best supporting actor for “Ligalig” in 2006 and has been nominated several times in different award giving bodies.
