23rd Star Awards for TV Winners 2009
Channel 2 ABS-CBN garnered the most number of nominations and ultimately the most number of wins — 26 — during the 23rd Star Awards for TV held by the Philippine Movie Press Club (PMPC) on Sunday, including the award for Best TV Station.
Meanwhile, GMA-7 won 15 stars, and its subsidiary Q-11 five stars, while TV5 brought home three stars, and UNTV and Net 25 one star apiece.
The two major stations tied for two categories, namely, the Best Gag Show which was awarded to Banana Split (ABS-CBN 2) and Bubble Gang (GMA-7), and Best Single Performance By An Actress to Gretchen Barretto for the Maalaala Mo Kaya’s “Salamin” episode (ABS-CBN 2) and Sunshine Dizon for Obra Presents: Sunshine Dizon’s “Butch” episode (GMA-7).
PMPC Board Member Rommel Galapon told BusinessWorld, that when voting is split, it is up to the club president to make a decision whether the tie should be broken or left alone.
